The mission of LGBT Education and Support Services (LGBTESS) is to promote a safe, equitable, accessible, and affirming campus for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, aromantic, and agender (LGBTQIA3+) students at the University of Oregon through resource navigation, education, community building, and event (co-)coordination and implementation.

Connect with Resources
Resources for LGBTQIA+ students encourage holistic support through mental, medical, and community care. Scholarships and other financial assistance are based on merit or need, including our Gender-Affirming Support Fund. Students are also invited to apply for LGBTESS-sponsored trips to conferences.
For students who are currently in or hoping to begin the process of transitioning while attending the UO, the university offers a variety of resources and services.
Build Community
Our student-driven outreach teams engage and empower LGBTQIA+ current and prospective students. Whether organizing events, being involved in campus organizations, or taking part in educational panels, our student employees and volunteers connect with the greater campus community, sharing resources to support students’ well-being and academic success.
In addition to our programs and services, there are organizations on and off campus, all focused on promoting awareness, education, support, and appreciation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer issues.
Supporting LGBTQIA+ Students
LGBTESS offers programs that are designed to educate people about the truth and diversity of the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Through ally training and panel discussions, we provide opportunities to share stories and ask questions in a way that fosters understanding, appreciation, and respect.

In the 1960s – 1990s, hundreds of young women who identified as lesbians came to Eugene. They founded organization's central to the city and provided leadership for community service agencies. They created lesbian magazines, photographs, music, films, dance performances, theater, and art. They influenced Oregon's political landscape and contributed to the larger LGBTQ movement.

Let’s Talk is a service that provides easy access to free, informal, and confidential one-on-one consultation with a Counseling Services staff member. See our website for six additional Let’s Talk days/times offered throughout the week.
Let’s Talk is especially helpful for students who:
Have a specific concern and would like to consult with someone about it. Would like on-the-spot consultation rather than ongoing counseling. Would like to consult with a CS staff member about what actual therapy looks like. Would like to meet with one of our CS identity-based specialists. Have a concern about a friend or family member and would like some ideas about what to do.How does Let’s Talk work?
Let’s Talk will be offered via Zoom and/or in satellite locations across campus. As a drop-in service, there is no need to schedule an appointment and no paperwork to be completed. Students are seen individually on a first-come, first-served basis at the times listed below. There may be a wait in the Zoom waiting room if the Let’s Talk staff member is meeting with another student. Please wait and we will be with you as soon as we can. Let’s Talk appointments are brief (usually between 15-30 minutes) and are meant to be used on an as-needed basis.
