Red Zone

The Red Zone campaign is used to raise awareness about the national issue of sexual violence and the increased prevalence of sexual assault within the first six weeks of fall term on college campuses. The UO Women’s Center and the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education collaborate to develop the individual components of the Red Zone campaign each year. Other student groups and leaders are invited to participate in the planning and development of the annual campaign. The planning committee utilizes current events and strategies to inform each year’s campaign in order to maintain relevancy and visibility.

Past elements of the Red Zone campaign at the UO have included:

  • Informational speakers
  • Social media efforts
  • Poetry nights
  • Art exhibits
  • Poster campaigns
  • A red flag display representing the prevalence of rape
  • Various other programs that students encounter regularly during their introductory weeks on campus
